Orbit Reader 40 Commands Quick Reference Guide

1 On/Off/Sleep
Power On/Off: Press and hold POWER key for two seconds
Enter sleep mode (when unit is in Local Mode) / Wake up from sleep: Short press power key

2 Hotkeys to switch Modes 
Connect via HID Orbit: Space+Dots 2,7
Connect via serial: Space+Dots 3,7
Connect via Bluetooth: Space+Dots 4,7
Connect via mass storage: Space+Dots 5,7
Connect via HID braille: Space+Dots 6,7
Switch to remote mode from stand-alone mode: Select+Right arrow 
Switch to stand-alone mode from an active remote mode connection: Select+Left arrow
Switch to stand-alone mode from inactive remote mode connection: Dot 7

3 Preference Menu Navigation
Open menu: Select+Up arrow
Open context menu of the editor: Select
Move to the next menu item: Down Arrow
Move to the previous menu item: Up Arrow
Move to the previous menu choice for current item: Left Arrow
Move to the next menu choice for current item: Right Arrow
Select the item or dismiss the alert: Select or Dot 8
Exit the menu (Also works for context menu): Dot 7

Top of the menu: Space+Dots 1,2,3
End of the menu: Space+Dots 4,5,6

4 File Manager Commands
Move to next file property: Right Arrow or Left or Right front panning key
Move to previous file property: Left Arrow or Left or Right back panning key
Move to next folder/file: Down Arrow
Move to previous folder/file: Up Arrow
Move focus back one level into the file manager, if at the root does nothing, if in one of the columns returns to the filename: Dot 7
Open current file/folder: Select or Dot 8
Move to first file: Space+Dots 1,2,3
Move to last file: Space+Dots 4,5,6
Edit current file: Space+E (Dots 1,5)
Jump to a file starting with the letter: Any alpha numeric character
Edit last File: Space+ed, (Dots 1,2,4,6)
Mark current file: Space+M (Dots 1,3,4)
Create new file: Space+N (Dots 1,3,4,5)
Create new folder: Space+O (Dots 1,3,5)
Delete file: Space+D (Dots 1,4,5)
Rename file: Space+R (Dots 1,2,3,5)
Cut file: Space+X (Dots 1,3,4,6)
Copy file: Space+C (Dots 1,4)
Paste file: Space+V (Dots 1,2,3,6)

5 Reader  Commands	
Move to the previous set of characters that fit on the display: Left or Right back panning key
Move to the next set of characters that fit on the display: Left or Right front panning key
Scroll the previous character into view: Space+Dot 3 or Left Arrow
Scroll the next character into view: Space+Dot 6 or Right Arrow
Scroll the previous word into view: Space+Dot 2 or Space+Left Arrow
Scroll the next word into view: Space+Dot 5 or Space+Right Arrow
Move to previous paragraph: Space+Dot 1 or Up Arrow
Move to next paragraph: Space+Dot 4 or Down Arrow
Move back in the file to the next form feed character or 60 lines whichever comes first: Dot 3
Move forward in the file to the next form feed character or 60 lines whichever comes first: Dot 6
Move to previous bookmark: Dot 2
Move to next bookmark: Dot 5
Move to the top of the file: Space+Dots 1,2,3 or Dot 1
Move to the bottom of the file: Space+Dots 4,5,6 or Dot 4
Exit the file and shows the folder contents again at the properties column where it was previously: Dot 7
Power move back (50%): Dot 8+up arrow
Power move forward (50%): Dot 8+down arrow
Previous search result: Dot 8+Left Arrow
Next search result: Dot 8+Right Arrow
Edit current file: Space+E (Dots 1,5)
Edit last file: Space+ed (Dots 1,2,4,6)
Set or clear bookmark: Space+M (Dots 1,3,4)
Create new File: Space+N (Dots 1,3,4,5)
Open find edit box: Space+F (Dots 1,2,4)
Start or stop auto scroll: Space
Change the auto-scroll speed by a second: Space+Up/Down Arrow
Change the auto-scroll speed by 0.1 second: Space+Dot 7+Up/Down Arrow

Move cursor to left: Left Arrow

Open/Close calendar: Space+Dots 1,4,8
Navigate to next week: Down Arrow
Navigate to previous week: Up Arrow
Move between days: Left/Right Arrow
Create new appointment: Space+n (Dots 1,3,4,5)
Add appointment: Dot 8
go to date: Space+g (Dots 1,2,4,5)
Go to date after entering the date: Select
Move through list of appointments: Up/Down Arrow
Delete Appointment: Space+d (Dots 1,4,5)
Stop ringing alarm: Dot 7

12 Miscellaneous
Show current date and time: Space+T (Dots 2,3,4,5)
Key lock/unlock: Dots 7+8 for two seconds
Hardware reset: Right panning key front+Dot 8
Software reset: Press and hold Dot 3+power key for 10 seconds
Enter firmware upgrade mode via USB: Press and hold down dot 5 + Right Forward Panning key, then press Dot 8, then release all keys
Enter firmware upgrade mode via SD card: Press and hold down dot 4 + Right Forward Panning key, then press the power button, then release all keys
