Building on the proven design and functionality of the Orbit Reader family, the Strata 40 delivers the familiar productivity, navigation, and connectivity features users rely on, while expanding Orbit’s braille offerings with piezo braille technology. It reflects Orbit’s commitment to providing meaningful choices for braille users alongside the company’s established TrueBraille technology.

Featuring 40 eight-dot refreshable braille cells with cursor routing keys and a high-quality Perkins style keyboard, the Strata 40 provides a fast and comfortable way to read and write in braille. It supports both standalone and connected operation, allowing users to work independently or connect seamlessly to computers and mobile devices.

In standalone mode, the Strata 40 offers built in productivity tools including a book reader, file editor, clock, calendar, and calculator. Users can read and edit BRF, BRL, and text files, organize documents and folders, and manage files directly on the device. Onboard forward and backward braille translation supports more than 70 languages, making the device suitable for users around the world.

Navigation is simple and efficient with cursor routing keys, a four-way cursor pad, configurable thumb keys, and panning keys for precise movement through documents and menus. Switching between reader, note taker, and braille display modes is instantaneous, allowing users to move quickly between tasks.

When connected to computers or mobile devices over USB or Bluetooth, the Strata 40 serves as a powerful braille display and works seamlessly with popular screen readers on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Fire OS, and Linux. Users can read and send messages and emails, browse the internet, access social media, and control their devices directly from the braille display. The Strata 40 can connect to up to five devices simultaneously, making it easy to switch between multiple computers or smartphones.

The device includes a USB C port for charging and connectivity, a fast-charging long-life battery, and audio and haptic indicators that provide clear feedback for operations and status changes. A full-size SD card slot and USB flash drive support allow convenient access to books and documents.
